Social Behavior Change Communication

Peer educators play a crucial role as agents of communication, connecting directly with clients to share important health information and services. Through micro planning, peer educators work closely with communities to identify needs, set priorities, and develop tailored strategies for health outreach. Their efforts ensure that prevention messages and health services reach individuals in a relatable and effective manner.
One key tool used in this process is the Ufulu Wathu booklet, a resource that educates individuals on their rights and available health services. This booklet serves as a guide for peer educators, helping them engage clients in meaningful conversations about health, rights, and well-being.

It involves a systematic process that begins with formative research and behavior analysis, followed by communication planning, implementation, and monitoring and evaluation. SBCC employs various channels, including mass media, interpersonal interactions, and community mobilization, to achieve defined behavioral objectives.
Angaza Foundation has runs various SBCC campaigns with target population to promote health seeking behaviors among young people and other affected communities. Through the Umoyo wanga campaign platform angaza reaches out to young people sharing HIV prevention, treatment and care messaging , SRHR uptake messaging as well as demonstration on usage of various health commodities such as Correct and consistent condom usage, ART, Family planning and other commodities.
